Since 2017, I have worked full-time as the primary in-house graphic designer for the California Department of State Hospitals (DSH), a forensic mental health hospital system with 5 facilities and over 10,000 employees.
In 2019, I was responsible for leading an effort to update the department's visual branding. This project included working with the executive team to redesign the department's logo, identifying graphical elements including colors, fonts, and imagery, and creating a style guide that would serve as a reference for all DSH employees to ensure consistency across the many facets of the department.
In my role at DSH, I provide graphic design support across almost all aspects of the organization, including recruitment, human resources, legal services, clinical services, organizational health and safety, and more. Much of the department's design needs center around printed materials used at in-person career fairs, recruitment events, and informational sessions.
Our department has an active presence on LinkedIn. In addition to creating static graphics for our LinkedIn posts (and other DSH social media accounts), I have also started creating short-form animated video content to help drive engagement and promote DSH events.
